Being a teen can be really stressful. Their years are full of challenging changes, both physically and emotionally. Know that your girl is not alone. Like many others, both tween and teen girls have difficulty dealing with these years.

The practice you circle is an opportunity for the girls to come together in community, create friendships, learn movement and mindfulness practices, and express themselves through journaling.

In this wellness program your teen will go from feeling overwhelmed about self-confidence and belonging to feeling overjoyed, brave, and motivated in cultivating a Pilates practice. Through a supportive community, the strength and flexibility your teen builds on their mat will increase their confidence and openness off their mat.

Meet Lia.

Founder of wel•lam, Pilates Master Trainer, and Yoga Therapist. Lia has been teaching for 10+ years and describes herself as a lifelong student of the body. With a background in Pilates, Barre, and Yoga, she brings a holistic and therapeutic perspective to her teaching. Her passion lies in connecting with her students, honoring their individual practice and needs. Lia specializes in Prenatal & Post Pregnancy, Musculoskeletal Pathologies and has pioneered a series supporting the physical and emotional well-being of Teen Girls. HOW OLD DOES MY ADOLESCENT GIRL NEED TO BE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM?

There are different time slots for the two age groups: 10-12 years and 13-16 years. This is because tweens and teens have different needs and experiences both physically and emotionally, so the sessions are tailored to best support each group.

WHAT IF MY TWEEN IS 9 YRS OLD?

I understand that maturity and readiness vary with each adolescent girl. If your 9-year-old is close to 10 and you feel they would benefit from the program, please reach out to me to chat. We can assess together whether the program would be a good fit.

MY TWEEN OR TEEN GIRL FEELS HESITANT ABOUT JOINING A GROUP PILATES PROGRAM, BUT I BELIEVE IT COULD REALLY HELP HER. HOW CAN I SUPPORT HER IN MAKING THIS DECISION?

I understand starting something new can feel uncomfortable, but many of my girls start the program on their own and are thrilled they took the leap. WHAT DOES MY TEEN NEED FOR THIS MOVEMENT PROGRAM

Clothing your teen feels comfortable moving in, grip socks, towel, and water to stay hydrated. If your girl does not have grip socks they can be purchased at my studio.

MY TEEN HAS NEVER DONE PILATES OR YOGA BEFORE IS THAT OK?

Of course! This program is open level and foundational. I love meeting new faces.

MY TEEN HAS A HISTORY OF INJURY, MEDICAL CONDITION OR JUST RE-INTRODUCING MOVEMENT INTO HER LIFE, CAN SHE PARTICIPATE?

Yes, Pilates and Yoga are both incredibly beneficial tools for healing injuries. You and I will speak before the start of the program so I am fully aware of your teen's situation. I encourage your teen to speak to me before and during the class as well so the correct modifications can be made. For more comprehensive care, I recommend private sessions. You can set up a connection call here to discuss the injury or medical condition further to ensure proper safety and setup for sessions and classes.

WHAT IF MY TEEN IS UNABLE TO MAKE ONE OF THE DATES?

Your teen will be missed during that class but unfortunately the program cannot be prorated and there are no additional dates provided.

WHAT HAPPENS IF LIA IS UNABLE TO CONDUCT THE CLASS DUE TO ILLNESS OR THERE IS INCLEMENT WEATHER?

If Lia cancels a class for any reason, including inclement weather, you will receive a credit to your account to use for a future program or private session at wel•lam. Credit will be good for six months. Rest assured, parents will be notified well in advance to stay updated on any changes.

In adherence to guidelines, I prioritize our collective well-being; thus, please refrain from attending class if you are feeling unwell.
